I hit day 100 of running at least a mile a day today. I celebrated with… a run. I ran 10km with my sister, then added a little extra because the AI running coach I built a few months ago reluctantly agreed to let me stretch my long run to 8 miles.
This started with a race on November 1 and a goal of finishing a 30-day streak. I celebrated that milestone with… more running. And just kept going.
Some of the runs were rough. The day after my first 10-mile long run, my knees staged a brief protest. One evening I kept waiting for the rain to stop and ended up running in a full Oregon downpour at 8pm anyway. Some were great. I ran my fastest 10k in years, faster than the one I ran during marathon training nearly a decade ago (racing faster than a decade-younger Rob).
Tomorrow is stacked with meetings, then a school board meeting we expect to run late. I’ll probably end up squeezing in a 10-minute jog around the neighborhood. At this point, I’m starting to think this streak might keep going until something truly unusual gets in the way.
Now let me tell you what this has taught me about leadership. Just kidding. 🙂
